Luna Display and Boot Camp

While Luna Display is compatible with both Windows and Mac, Windows through Boot Camp has some limitations and is not officially supported for this reason. However, we understand that this is a preferred setup for some of our users so we want to provide guidelines on when Luna can and can't be used with Boot Camp. It comes down to the Luna Display hardware types.

USB-C

The USB-C Luna Display can be used interchangeably between Windows and Mac provided the devices have a compatible port. Due to this cross-compatibility, there is minimal trouble when using this on a Mac computer with Windows installed. We have found that this is the only configuration that works with Bootcamp.

HDMI

The HDMI Luna Display is compatible with native Windows devices only. Using an HDMI Luna with a Mac computer, even if it is running Windows, very likely will not work. The APIs used for the HDMI ports on Mac devices are different than what we see on Windows devices, and we do not have access to them.

mDP

The mDP Luna Display is only compatible with the macOS. It is specifically meant for those that have older Macs with Thunderbolt 1 and 2 ports. This version of Luna will not work with Windows devices.
