Non-QWERTY Keyboard Shortcuts Issue

We have identified an issue that prohibits on-screen shortcuts and gestures from working properly with non-QWERTY keyboard inputs. While we work to provide a fix, as a workaround, please follow the instructions below, based on your preferred keyboard input.

How to Edit Shortcuts (Recommended)

First edit the shortcuts and gestures for Undo and Redo, as well as any other shortcuts that are not working properly, in the Edit shortcuts menu.

1. Open Astropad Studio and click on "Workspace" to open the menu.

2. Once in "Workspace" click on Edit Shortcuts located at the bottom of the menu.

3. Click on the shortcut that you would like to edit and an edit window will appear. Click on the Clear Keys button to clear the shortcut. Add the proper shortcut, which will be listed below, based on your keyboard input. Enter the correct keystrokes to ensure your shortcut will work properly.
4. Click the Save button and your shortcut will be saved.

Keyboard Input Layouts and Adjustments

AZERTY (French) Keyboard Layout

Edit the following shortcuts so that you see the following on-screen:

  • Change Undo From Command+Z to Command+W
  • Change Redo From Shift+Command+Z to Shift+Command+W

If editing the shortcut using the Astropad Studio On-Screen Keyboard, press the W key when editing the shortcut.

If editing the shortcut using a physical AZERTY layout keyboard, press the Z key when editing the shortcut.

QWERTZ (German/Swiss) Keyboard Layout

Edit the following shortcuts so that you see the following on-screen:

  • Change Undo From Command+Z to Command+Y
  • Change Redo From Shift+Command+Z to Shift+Command+Y

If editing the shortcut using the  Astropad Studio On-Screen Keyboard, press the Y key when editing the shortcut.

If editing the shortcut using a  physical QWERTZ layout keyboard, press the Z key when editing the shortcut.

Switching Keyboard Inputs When Using Astropad Studio

If you find that adjusting your shortcuts is not the best option for you, you can also switch between keyboard layouts when using Astropad Studio. You will need to add the U.S. QWERTY Keyboard Input to your system in order to use the proper shortcuts.

Mac

On your Mac, navigate to  System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Input Sources and add the U.S. keyboard input.

Adjust your Keyboard Preferences after you close out of Studio so that you can use your preferred input as normal.

Windows PC

Windows 10

On your Windows 10 PC, navigate to  Start Menu -> Settings -> Time and Language -> Preferred Language -> Select the default language and then select Options. Select Add a keyboard and choose the U.S. Keyboard Input (QWERTY)

Windows 11

On your Windows 11 PC, navigate to  Start Menu -> Settings -> Time and Language -> Language and Region -> Click Add Language and select English (U.S.) -> Install Language Package. You can then use the QWERTY keyboard layout when selected.

NOTE: Clip Studio Paint does not support the default Undo and Redo gestures in the correct manner when using a Swiss-German keyboard layout with Astropad Studio. Switching back to the US keyboard layout will revert these gestures back to default.

If using a Swiss-German keyboard layout, to Undo in Clip Studio Paint, tap the screen with three fingers. To Redo in Clip Studio Paint, tap the screen with two fingers.
