Setting Up Luna Display for Windows

PC-to-iPad Mode

Luna Display extends your Windows PC screen to an iPad, turning your iPad into an external display for your Windows PC.

At this time, Luna Display for Windows is only available for PC-to-iPad mode. We hope to explore other connection modes in the future though!

Downloading and Installing Apps

1

Download the iPad app

The Luna Display for Windows iPad app can be downloaded through TestFlight.

The Luna Display for Windows iPad is not the same as the Luna for Mac iPad app currently in the Apple App Store. The apps are currently different and separate while we continue to make our Windows experience as seamless as our Mac experience.

2

Download the PC companion app

After downloading the iPad app, download and install the free PC companion app from our downloads page.

3

Plug the Luna Display hardware into your PC

If your Luna hardware is the USB-C unit type, make sure you plug it directly into a compatible port on your Windows PC. Not all USB-C ports support video output using Thunderbolt or DisplayPort alternate mode, which is how Luna communicates with your PC.

Open both the iPad and PC apps

A quick test will check if your PC is fast enough to support a retina display on an iPad. This setting can be changed later in the Preferences menu.

Instructions for setup and connection will appear on screen. When both apps are open and past setup, tap  Next.

USB and Wireless Connection

To use Luna Display, your PC and iPad need to be connected by either USB or Wi-Fi connection.

Connect by USB

Using your iPad's corresponding USB cable (30-pin to USB, or Lightning to USB), connect the iPad to your PC. The USB cable needs to be capable of data transfer, so not all USB cables will work.

Connect by Wi-Fi

Make sure both the PC and iPad are on the same wireless network. If both your PC and iPad are on the same network with a good signal, they should connect automatically.

– Try Manual Wi-Fi Connect if you are unable to connect automatically.

At the connection screen, click "Connect Info" and a new window will be shown with connection options. Click "Wi-Fi Manual Connect" and a QR code should appear on your PC screen for your iPad to scan.

Enable "Camera" on your iPad for Luna Display and scan the QR code. This connection screen will disappear when you are connected.
