Public Mode
What is Public Mode?
Public Mode is a feature in Luna Display designed for users working in shared or public environments — like offices, coffee shops, or hotels.
When Public Mode is turned on, Luna Display will no longer automatically connect to the first available computer on the network. Instead, you must manually connect using one of the following methods:
- Wi-Fi Manual Connect
- USB (Computer-to-iPad mode)
- USB (Mac-to-Mac mode) — requires macOS 10.15 or later
- Ethernet or Thunderbolt (Mac-to-Mac)
Once you manually connect for the first time, Luna will remember the connection and automatically reconnect in future sessions.
How to Enable Public Mode
Public Mode is off by default — you’ll need to enable it manually in Luna’s settings. Instructions vary by device type:
On the Luna Primary App
- Click Luna Display > Preferences/Settings > Connectivity
- Select Public under “Wi-Fi Connection Mode”
OR
- Click the Connection Options menu in the Luna app
- Scroll to the Environment section and choose Public
On the Luna iPad App
- Tap the Connection Options section in the top-left corner
- Select Public
On the Luna Secondary App
- Click Luna Secondary > Preferences/Settings from the top-left menu bar
- Select Public under “Wi-Fi Connection Mode”
Public Mode helps prevent accidental or automatic connections in environments where multiple people are using Luna Display.
